Whilst at Nichols Brown Webber, I was project architect for a new sixth form centre and café at Shiplake College in Henley-on-Thames. The ground floor houses a sixth form café and servery which opens onto a sunny deck. Upstairs are two classrooms and two small seminar rooms accessed via an external stair under an oak-framed roof. The building was designed to be timeless, and nestle into the surroundings, hence the careful choice of materials and detailing, such as dark stained timber weatherboarding, flint and brick, and plain clay roof tiles.
